The Job
Finds You
You will stop applying for work.
Your account will make a different kind of introduction.
One human.
One specific need.
Two sides saying yes.
November 5, 2026
The offer will arrive on a Tuesday while she is doing something else.
Four mornings a week, coordinating supplies for a network of neighborhood kitchens. The work will draw on decisions she has handled before. The hours will fit the time she has made available. Her personal AI will have checked the working arrangements and rejected two other opportunities before bringing her this one.
She will have written no résumé, searched no job board, and submitted no application. Nobody will have asked her to perform enthusiasm for a webcam.
She will read what the work requires, what she will receive, and what both sides have agreed to test first. Then she will say yes.
This is how I see hiring changing. The permanent human account will turn the job market from a place where people submit descriptions of themselves into a network where useful work can find a person who is ready to do it. The employer will have to make itself worth finding, too.
01 / The broken introduction
The screen became the person.
We built remote hiring around a collection of representations: a document, a professional profile, a reference, a face moving on glass. Enough of those representations agreeing with one another became grounds for giving someone access to a business.
The weakness is already visible. In an April 2026 sentencing announcement, the U.S. Justice Department described a North Korean remote-worker scheme that used stolen identities to obtain jobs at more than 100 American companies, including Fortune 500 firms. U.S.-based facilitators hosted employer laptops while overseas workers accessed them remotely.
The FBI’s October 13 advisory describes facilitators paid to appear in interviews and workers checking whether stolen identities will pass verification services. It calls for layered checks throughout employment. The person on the call, the identity in the paperwork, and the person doing the work can be different people.
AI will make the representation even easier to manufacture. A better résumé and a more convincing Zoom interview will improve the performance at the very moment the performance becomes a weaker reason to trust.
The old process will respond by asking for more evidence in the same forms. The new process will change the relationship underneath them.
02 / A continuing human
The introduction will have an origin.
The woman receiving Tuesday’s offer will use the same account recorded on her birth certificate. One verified human, one permanent account. It will already be hers before her first job, and it will remain hers through every employer and Bundler she chooses.
An employer will meet that human through a particular proposed relationship. Her delegate will carry her permission to explore the work, disclose relevant evidence, and negotiate within limits. The company’s agent will carry a verified role permitting it to make the offer.
A copied name or an old identity document will establish neither side of that exchange. The systems will check current control, the authority for the particular action, and the relevant claims the work requires. Location and eligibility, where required, will have their own evidence.
When a person delegates work onward, the receiving system will be able to determine whether that handoff is allowed. When credentials are compromised, the affected authority will be suspended and control recovered through independent channels. The person will keep the same identity.
Hiring will establish a continuing connection among a human, a work role, and the permissions needed to perform it. That connection will remain answerable after the interview hour has passed. Replacing a photograph will change almost nothing that matters.
03 / Evidence that can travel
The work will introduce you.
A résumé compresses a life into claims a stranger has time to read. The compression throws away circumstances, uncertainty, recent learning, and most of the evidence. It rewards the person who can make the claims look familiar.
Your account will organize a different introduction. With your permission, your delegate will present evidence relevant to a particular need: assignments completed, outcomes accepted, qualifications still current, and the conditions under which you produced the result.
A company will be able to attest that you resolved a certain class of supply problem without exposing its suppliers, prices, or private records. You will carry evidence of your contribution while the company keeps the work information entrusted to it.
The method will matter. A human working with a capable personal AI will be evaluated as that actual productive combination. The system will need to know which tools were available, which decisions the human made, and what responsibility they carried. It will become increasingly strange to test people by taking away the intelligence they bring to work.
Someone beginning a career will have a way in through small, useful, paid assignments. Each will create evidence for a larger commitment. Someone changing fields will be able to demonstrate a relevant capability before accumulating the titles traditionally used as its proxy.
That will make experience more portable and more specific. You will stop rebuilding a paper version of yourself each time you want to do something new.
04 / The person behind the capability
The match will work both ways.
The kitchens need someone who can handle a late delivery without disrupting lunch. The woman needs work that ends before her afternoon commitments. Her AI knows both her competence and the life around it.
She will have told it when to look, what she wants to earn, how far she is willing to travel, and which kinds of work she wants more of. Those instructions will change as her life changes. Her delegate will search within that mandate while she attends to something else.
The employer will receive the availability and relevant capability she permits it to see. It will receive no entitlement to the private reasons behind her schedule. Her personal system will do the work of translating her circumstances into a useful boundary.
The same exchange will reveal something about the company. Does it publish the actual outcome it needs? Can it provide the tools and access required? Who decides when something is acceptable? What happens when the situation changes?
A vacancy titled “operations coordinator” will provide too little information. A clear description of the decisions, resources, authority, working times, and terms will let the two systems determine whether a relationship can work.
Discovery will become continuous. The person will set the conditions under which an introduction is welcome. The work network will look for useful matches within them. An application will become an unnecessary announcement of facts the human has already authorized their delegate to use.
Turn the offer over
Both sides have to qualify.
Consider the same proposed kitchen assignment from each side.
The work network examines the proposed contributor
- Capability
- Evidence of resolving comparable supply problems, with the working method identified.
- Availability
- The mornings she has authorized her delegate to offer.
- Authority
- A current mandate to negotiate this relationship and a verified human who can accept it.
- First commitment
- A paid assignment with limited access and a clear acceptance test.
The human’s delegate examines the proposed workplace
- Capability
- Working systems, usable records, and someone authorized to resolve exceptions.
- Availability
- The promised working times, resources, and payment arrangements.
- Authority
- A company role empowered to commit to the terms it is offering.
- First commitment
- An agreed outcome, an accountable reviewer, and an orderly way to stop.
The same relationship has two promises inside it. A good match needs both.
05 / Meeting the work
The first assignment will tell more.
Tuesday’s agreement will begin with a bounded piece of real work. The woman and her AI will receive the records and permissions required to coordinate one supply cycle. The kitchen network will provide its delivery windows, substitution rules, and someone who can decide an exception.
A supplier will be late. Her AI will identify the alternatives and prepare the necessary arrangements. One substitution will require a commitment beyond the authority she delegated. She will settle that exception with the person responsible on the other side, and the machines will carry the agreement through. Lunch will happen.
Now both sides will know something a polished interview could only suggest. The company will have seen her judgment in its operating conditions. She will have seen whether the company supplies what it promised, responds when needed, and accepts work by the agreed standard.
That result will support the next commitment. Access will expand to match the role, and further assignments will show whether the fit continues. If the relationship ends, company permissions will close and the agreed payment will settle. Useful work will have been done on both sides of a fair test.
Human conversation will still have its place. People will meet to understand one another, make consequential commitments, and discuss the parts of work that deserve their attention. The ritual interview will lose its position as the gate through which every capable stranger must perform.
06 / Why the Bundler builds it
Work will make the bundle stronger.
The company assembling a life subscription wants more of the human’s wallet. Helping that human earn will make its offer more valuable. Coordinating the services that make work possible will make the matching system more effective.
This is the deeper opportunity behind my prediction that Uber becomes the world’s largest employer by 2030. Employment and healthcare open the relationship. Connection, movement, a place to work, and everyday services gather around it.
The woman accepting the kitchen assignment will need more than a match. She will need to reach the workplace, use the required systems, and know the services surrounding her day will function. The network will be able to coordinate those conditions as part of supplying her life.
Her income and any agreed employer sponsorship will fund the subscription under the arrangement. Other humans supported by that income will retain their own distinct accounts. The work relationship will change who funds which services; it will confer no ownership of a person.
A Bundler will gain by reducing the time useful capacity sits idle, improving the quality of matches, and making participation dependable. An employer will gain by spending less time sorting claims and more time receiving useful work. The human will gain a way to find work that fits without spending their life applying for it.
The account will carry the continuity across these relationships. The operator will have to earn the ongoing choice to organize them.
07 / The employer becomes legible
HR will design relationships.
The recruiting department will stop defining its success by the pile of people it has persuaded to apply. Its more valuable work will be making a real need understandable, making the evidence for a match relevant, and making the resulting relationship work.
That will force employers to explain themselves. A vague role, an inaccessible system, or a manager who cannot state what a good result looks like will become a recruiting disadvantage. Personal delegates will compare the conditions of doing the work as carefully as the headline compensation.
The assessment will also need boundaries. Identity verification can establish the human and the claims required for access while capability evaluation receives the evidence relevant to the task. An employer will have to explain why it needs a fact rather than treating a permanent account as permission to inspect a whole life.
As I argued in What the Judge Was Not Shown, the information a judging system receives is a design decision. The hiring network will have to make that decision visible enough to challenge. A person will be able to correct a record and contest a bad inference without abandoning their identity.
The result will reshape bargaining. A person will receive more relevant alternatives. A company will lose some of the protection it once enjoyed because searching for another job was exhausting. Clear work, dependable systems, and a fair handover will become part of the offer’s competitive value.
HR will carry those promises into daily operations. Its work will include how authority is granted, how results are recognized, how problems are repaired, and how a person leaves. The employment relationship will become easier to begin because it has been designed to end cleanly.
08 / A different first Monday
She will arrive with herself.
On her first Monday, the company’s systems will recognize the role she has accepted. Her personal AI will already know how she works. The new permissions will connect the two.
Months later, she will learn something new. Her delegate will be able to explore a different class of work under a changed mandate. Years later, she will change providers or leave the employer. Her personal intelligence and her account will continue; the company’s protected work and operating records will remain with the company.
Funding will need a new arrangement when sponsorship ends. The transition will be planned alongside the end of work access. A permanent identity will give the change continuity, while the next relationship supplies its own obligations.
The résumé, the application, and the Zoom interview will look like artifacts of a world that had to reconstruct a stranger from a performance each time work changed hands.
She will have been a continuing human all along. The useful evidence will finally travel with her, under her authority. The job will find her when the need, the capability, and the life fit together.
The first introduction will be the beginning of work.
