The Personal Database Will Become the Center of Computing
Supabase will be bigger than Oracle.
I am not talking about revenue, market capitalization, or the number of Fortune 500 contracts. I am talking about database activity. Supabase will process more database transactions because billions of individuals will each have a personal database operating beneath their personal AI.
The scale comes from a fundamental reversal in computing.
For the last fifty years, the enterprise has been the center. The individual has been a sub-entity. The enterprise owns the database, defines the permissions, controls the applications, and decides what the individual is allowed to do. Whether you are working inside Amazon Web Services, Oracle, SAP, Salesforce, or a company network, you exist inside somebody else’s entity. Your identity is subordinate. Your access is conditional. Your authority comes from above.
That architecture works inside a company system. It does not work as the architecture of a life.
Your personal operating system cannot place you at the bottom of somebody else’s permission structure. It has to begin with you.
Your Personal AI Is the Permanent Relationship
Today, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and the other frontier providers sell artificial intelligence to enterprises. A company buys seats. A central administrator controls access. Employees receive company-governed AI accounts and operate within company policy.
That model will not become the primary relationship between a person and artificial intelligence. It is dead on arrival.
Artificial intelligence is not another piece of company software. It becomes the intelligence through which a person operates. It knows the individual across every domain of life: work, family, education, health, finances, travel, commitments, projects, and relationships.
No employer can occupy the center of that relationship.
Your company changes. Your role changes. Your permissions change. Your personal AI remains.
You will have a direct relationship with a frontier intelligence provider. You will pay that provider directly. Your personal AI will accumulate context, operating knowledge, preferences, history, and methods over years. It will become more valuable precisely because it belongs to the continuity of your life rather than the temporary boundary of one employer.
The enterprise AI will not replace your personal AI when you arrive at work. Your personal AI will go to work with you.
Your AI Goes to Work
Imagine asking your personal AI a simple question in the morning:
“What do I need to accomplish today?”
It answers:
“You have a dentist appointment at 10:30. Six customer orders need to be fulfilled at work. Your son needs the travel documents this afternoon. The refrigerator repair is scheduled between 4:00 and 6:00.”
That answer crosses the artificial borders created by applications and institutions. There is no separate human life called work, another called family, and another called household administration. There is one person with one day.
Then you say:
“Go ahead and fulfill those six orders. Text me if you need me.”
Notice where the delegation went.
You did not delegate the work to the company AI. You delegated it to your personal AI. Your AI then approached the enterprise on your behalf.
The company remains in control of its system of action. It determines whether you are authorized to view the orders, change them, fulfill them, or approve an exception. Your AI presents your identity and your delegated authority. The enterprise grants or denies access according to its rules. Every action remains governed, attributable, and auditable.
But the intelligence performing the work is yours.
The enterprise does not hand you an intelligence and ask you to leave yours at the door. It gives your intelligence permission to act within a defined boundary.
That is the new architecture.

The Enterprise Becomes a System of Action
The enterprise does not disappear. Its role becomes clearer.
The company owns its customers, orders, inventory, financial records, intellectual property, and operating policies. Its systems remain authoritative for company facts. Its permissioning layer determines who can do what. Its controls protect the enterprise from unauthorized actions.
The enterprise is the system of action.
Your personal operating system is the system through which you understand, coordinate, and delegate your life. When work must be performed inside an enterprise, your AI enters that system of action with the permissions attached to your role.
When you join a company, the company authorizes your personal AI.
When your role changes, the company changes those permissions.
When you leave, the company revokes them.
Your personal AI does not disappear. Your personal database does not disappear. The operating continuity of your life remains intact.
This is the exact opposite of today’s enterprise seat model. Today, the company creates your AI identity and destroys it when you leave. Tomorrow, you arrive with your AI, just as you arrive with your education, judgment, experience, and relationships. The enterprise contracts with the complete operating entity that is you.
The Personal Database Is Not Optional
A permanent personal AI requires permanent personal state.
It needs to know what is true, what changed, what you authorized, what it completed, what remains open, and which external entity owns the authoritative record. Conversation history is not enough. Memory features are not enough. Files scattered across applications are not enough.
Your personal AI requires a database.
That database holds the operational continuity of your life. It stores commitments, permissions, preferences, relationships, projects, delegations, results, and the provenance of important facts. It records what your AI has done and why. It distinguishes between information you own, information you are permitted to use, and information that remains authoritative inside another entity.
The permission model begins with the individual. You authorize your AI. You decide which parts of your personal state can be used for a task. External entities then grant limited access to their systems of action.
You are no longer a permanent sub-entity inside somebody else’s database. Employment becomes one temporary permissioned relationship among many.
Why the Transaction Volume Explodes
The database transactions do not come primarily from people typing into forms. They come from personal AIs continuously coordinating work.
Your AI checks the six orders. It reads their current status. It verifies inventory. It records that fulfillment was requested. It submits the authorized actions. It receives confirmations. It updates your personal operating state. It alerts you only when a decision exceeds its authority.
The same pattern occurs when your AI coordinates a family trip, manages a home repair, tracks a child’s education, reconciles a purchase, prepares for an appointment, or follows an obligation to completion.
One human instruction creates dozens, hundreds, and eventually thousands of database transactions. The person does not experience those transactions. The person experiences completion.
Now multiply that activity by billions of individuals, each operating through a personal AI twenty-four hours a day.
Oracle grew large because enterprises needed databases. Supabase will become larger because every person will need one.
Why Supabase
Supabase sits directly in the path of this transition. It gives each project a full Postgres database and builds Auth, Storage, Realtime, and APIs around that foundation. Its row-level security model supports granular authorization inside the database—the kind of permissioning intelligent entities will need when they interact with personal state.
Its great opportunity is not to become a cheaper Oracle for smaller companies. Its opportunity is to become the personal database layer for billions of people.

The New Center
The enterprise has been the center of computing because the enterprise owned the intelligence, the software, the database, and the permissions.
That era is ending.
The individual becomes the center. The personal AI becomes the individual’s operating intelligence. The personal database gives that intelligence continuity. Enterprises remain powerful, but they become external systems of action that the individual’s AI enters under explicit permission.
You will never put your personal AI aside when you go to work. You will bring it with you. The company will not give you your primary intelligence. It will authorize your intelligence to act.
That reversal creates the largest database market in history.
Oracle built its scale by becoming indispensable to corporations.
Supabase will surpass it by becoming indispensable to people.
