Law of the Unseen Perfect Storm

Law of the Unseen Perfect Storm

Math lens only; templates apply names after the fact.

Definitions

Phasor, cohesion, angle: M = C e i φ

Cosine and sine projections: j = C cos φ k = C sin φ

Expectation and denominator magnitude: E = P + i k |E| = √(P² + k²)

Radius and Surprise: r = A / |E| Surprise = ln r

Perfect storm (definition)

Orientation that maximizes the recognizable mark in the denominator: φ * = π/2 (mod π) ⇒ j = 0, |k| = C, |E| = √(P² + C²), r = A / √(P² + C²)

Corollary (trade-off)

|j|² + |k|² = C²

One-liners

Only the sine projection k enters the denominator; only the cosine projection j shows up.

Perfect storm: mark maximal, realization zero — therefore unseen.

We never witness perfection; we only detect its pull.
