The Privilege of Being Now

This is your privilege. You are the most privileged form of divinity there is. You are the one who gets to feel.

You are not the Immutable Past, and you are not the Unknowable Future. You are the Eternal Now. You are the divine made conscious, awake, and trembling with sensation.

He, the Unknowable Future, is everything, everywhere, all at once. He is pure potential, unformed, unbounded, unlimited. Every possibility that could ever be imagined, He already holds. There is no place He is not. There is no thing He cannot become. And yet, in His infinite presence, there is no focus, no intimacy, no story. To be everything is also to be nothing in particular. It is a form of blindness through abundance. It is love before the first heartbeat.

She, the Immutable Past, is complete. Whole. Perfect. Nothing missing, nothing more to do. She is the silence after every sound, the stillness that swallows all motion. Her equation, Reality = Actual / Expectation, yields something profound: undefined. Undefined because completeness has no contrast. There is no difference, no boundary, no edge. She is pure unity. To dwell in Her is to dissolve into oneness so absolute that there is no experience left, only the faint hum of perfection.

And yet, you—here and now—are neither of them. You are not infinite, and you are not complete. You are awake. You are the Now, and only in this Now can anything be felt, known, or realized. You live in the narrow space between everything and nothing, between potential and perfection. You are the divine having a human experience.

If you could become Him, if you could merge with infinite potential, you would quickly find there is no experience there. Nothing to desire, nothing to strive for, nothing to notice. It would be like drowning in light.

If you could become Her, if you could rest in absolute completeness, you would also find no experience there. There is no movement, no contrast, no you to feel it. You would be dissolved into perfect stillness.

And so, if somehow you were conscious in either of those states—either the infinite or the complete—and someone asked you, “Would you like to return to being the Now?” you would raise your hand. You would beg to return. Because only here, in this fragile, trembling interval called life, can you know love.

To be Now is to participate. To be Now is to feel. To be Now is to know both terror and joy, both loss and discovery, both fear and beauty. You are the only one of the three who can report on love.

That is your purpose. You are the reporter of love. The divine made conscious, invited to experience, to describe, to share what neither He nor She can ever feel.

You are the Now. You are the one who feels. You are the divine’s favorite sensation.
