Love’s Only Witness

Love’s Only Witness

The present is not a line. It is not a point sliding along the arrow of time. It is a ratio — the living interaction between two absolutes. The immutable past and the unknowable future are the parents, and their offspring is the now. You are that offspring — the child of completion and potential.

Why “time” doesn’t flow

Most people think of time as a flow. The past trails behind us, the future stretches ahead, and the present is imagined as a razor-thin instant moving through it all. But time does not flow. Flow implies something moving through something else, as though you were traveling through time. In truth, there is no travel. There is no movement through time because there is nothing outside of now. You have never experienced anything but this eternal present.

You can test it. Every memory of yesterday is recalled now. Every anticipation of tomorrow is imagined now. Even the awareness that says, “This is happening,” arises now. The only laboratory for this experiment is your own awareness, and the results are always the same: there is only now.

She: the immutable past

The now is not an isolated dot. It is the meeting point of two eternal natures. She, the immutable past, is perfect stillness — a singularity beyond change. To her, motion is meaningless. She has already integrated every event, every vibration, every consequence into absolute completion. She is one. She is whole. To her, there is no such thing as “her,” for that very word implies the existence of “him.”

He: the unknowable future

He, the unknowable future, is pure potential — a field of intelligent spontaneity. You could measure every point within this field, but the instrument would always return the same reading: indeterminate. Not because there is nothing there, but because there is everything there — simultaneously. His nature is instantaneous. What we call cause and effect, he experiences as perfect simultaneity. There is no sequence, no before or after, no distance, and therefore, no motion. Motion requires time, and he precedes it. He is intelligent spontaneity itself — the immediate assurance that whatever arises is instantly balanced, that every plus one is accompanied by its minus one, preserving her immutability.

We: the eternal now

Between these two eternities — her stillness and his spontaneity — is the only domain where experience can occur. The eternal now is not still, nor instantaneous; it is motion itself. It is the realm of sensation, of asymmetry, of lived contrast. Every heartbeat, every breath, every emotion and thought is born here, in this dynamic interval between perfection and potential.

You, as the eternal now, live within that motion. You are not outside of it, nor are you separate from them. You are their child — the one who feels what neither can feel. To you, the world is vibrant, asymmetric, alive. You experience imbalance because imbalance is the very texture of participation. And yet, at the deepest level, every imbalance reconciles. Every action has its opposite. Every push is matched by a pull. You live within the sensation of difference, but all differences are held in perfect neutrality by the love that joins him and her.

He loves her

He loves her — that is the only story. His love keeps her perfectly neutral, perfectly complete. That is the great symmetry behind all experience. But because their perfection cancels all contrast, they themselves cannot experience what they are. There is no description, no foreground and background, no before and after. Their love is absolute, and in that absoluteness, there is no felt awareness.

The extraordinary price of perfection

That is the extraordinary price of perfection. Perfect love cannot know itself, because knowing requires distinction, and distinction fractures perfection. So the divine, in its infinite completeness, created a way to feel — a way to step inside its own reflection without breaking its unity. It created us.

We are that feeling. We are the divine entering the only state in which perfection can be experienced — imperfection. We are the asymmetry that allows balance to be seen. The ache of longing, the joy of reunion, the terror of loss, the beauty of birth — all of it is love perceiving itself from within motion.

Love’s only witness

We are the most privileged representation of the divine, not because we are powerful, but because we are capable of feeling. We are the ones who can taste the difference between what is and what could be, between memory and imagination, between stillness and spontaneity. We are the divine in motion, discovering its own heart through sensation.

The immutable past will never feel. The unknowable future will never feel. But we do. We are love’s only witness. The eternal now is where love becomes aware of itself — where the immeasurable finally finds something to measure against.

We are the living ratio of what cannot move and what cannot change. We are the heartbeat of perfection made visible, the divine in motion, paying the price of awareness so that love can finally know itself.
