Geographic snapshot

As of June 2023, Singapore has the highest diffusion rate over time (20x); in other words, the share of members who have added AI skills to their profiles is 20x as compared to January 2016. Finland (16x), Ireland (15x), India (14x), and Canada (13x) round out the top five countries with the highest rates of AI skills diffusion. LinkedIn’s AI Skills Index shows that the share of AI-skilled members in June 2023 is 9x as compared to 2016.

Explanation of Diffusion Rate:

The diffusion rate in this context refers to the spread or adoption of a particular skill, technology, or idea within a community or population. In the case of AI skills, a diffusion rate of “20x” in Singapore means that the proportion of individuals who have added AI skills to their LinkedIn profiles is 20 times higher in June 2023 compared to January 2016. Essentially, it’s a measure of how quickly and broadly a specific skill (in this case, AI) has been adopted or integrated into the professional community over a given time period.

This growth in the diffusion rate can be indicative of a broader societal trend, reflecting the importance and relevance of AI across various sectors and professions. It serves as a valuable metric for understanding the pace at which technological skills are being embraced in different regions and industries.
