The 4 “C”s of Social Media

1. Content
2. Community
3. Conversation
4. Creativity

MMG Logo 800x800CONTENT:  It’s what you publish.  even a comment is considered content.  It’s ranked.  It can be original or regurgitated.  PageRank and EdgeRank prefer original content for very selfish reasons.

COMMUNITY: Get to know your audience.  Think of them not as fans, friends or followers.  Think of them as an audience.  Get to know them.  Really know them.  Do they have kids?  What are their interest?  Do your homework.  Community in social media is very different from Broadcast audiences.  You must take the time to get to know your audience.

CONVERSATION:  Unlike broadcast (fire and forget), social media is bi-directional.  If you’re not having conversations you’re doing it wrong.  Start conversations. participate in conversations.  moderate conversations.

CREATIVITY:  We humans with mobile phones get bored easily.  Think!  Create something worthy of attention in an era where our attention span is only 4 seconds.

Be creative!  Be social.  Have a conversation today.  And remember Social Media is a relationship platform not a transactional platform.

“Conversion” is NOT a “C”.
