Realizing That Which You Really Are

Introduction to Realization

In the journey of understanding our existence, realization stands as the middle process—bridging the immutable past and the boundless future. Realization is the profound understanding and acceptance of our true nature. It is the recognition that we are already complete, that our essence is not defined by external achievements or validations but by our inherent being. This article delves into the concept of realization and introduces the Reality Equation to elucidate how we experience reality.

The Concept of Realization

Realization is the process of becoming aware of what we inherently are. It is not about becoming something new or achieving a state of perfection; rather, it is about uncovering and embracing the truth of our existence. In this sense, realization is a journey inward, a process of peeling away layers of misconception to reveal the core of our being.

At its core, realization asserts that nothing external is required for us to be whole. We do not need to change, improve, or achieve specific milestones to validate our existence. Instead, realization is about understanding and accepting our intrinsic worth and the completeness of our current state.

The Reality Equation

To understand realization mathematically, we introduce the Reality Equation. This equation provides a logical framework for comprehending how we experience reality. It underscores the idea that reality is not something we create, but something we experience as a ratio of actual and expectation.

The Reality Equation

Reality = Actual / Expectation

Explanation of the Components

  • Actual: The numerator of the equation, representing the immutable past. It is the objective record of everything that has happened, provided to us without alteration. It is constant and the same for everyone, reflecting the factual outcomes of our collective existence.
  • Expectation: The denominator of the equation, representing our subjective anticipation of events + influence of ideas. Expectations vary from person to person as each person has their own subconcious prediction machine and symbiotic relationships with various ideas.

Implications of the Reality Equation

The Reality Equation illustrates that reality is a quotient of actual and expectation. We do not create reality; we experience it as an awareness of this ratio. The actual, being constant and unchangeable, serves as the foundation, while our expectations shape our individual experiences of reality.

As awareness experiencing this ratio, we recognize that our perceptions of reality fluctuate based on the variations in our expectations. High expectations might lead to a sense of dissatisfaction if the actual does not align with them, while lower or more grounded expectations might result in a more fulfilling experience of reality.

Realization and Awareness

Realization brings us to the understanding that we are the awareness experiencing reality. This awareness is not bound by the fluctuations of our expectations but observes and experiences the dynamic interplay between the actual and our subjective expectations. Realization emphasizes that our essence is this pure awareness, which is constant and unchanging, regardless of the external circumstances.

Conclusion

Realization is a profound journey of uncovering and embracing our true nature. It is the middle process that connects the past and the future, grounding us in the present moment. By understanding the Reality Equation, we gain insight into how we experience reality and recognize that we are the awareness observing this experience. This realization affirms our inherent completeness and the constancy of our true self, untouched by external validations or achievements.
