The Root Sentence
A condition is a prerequisite in order for something to happen or exist.
Everything in this article unfolds from that sentence. If a claim made here does not preserve that structure, the claim is wrong and the sentence should be discarded. The root sentence is not a definition among other definitions. It is the governing grammar of the entire work.
Notice what the sentence does not say. It does not say that a condition makes something possible. Possibility is not granted by conditions. Possibility belongs to the Future, and the Future needs nothing from us. A condition is named possibility — a possibility that has been distinguished, given an endpoint, given an angle on the circumference. The condition is the prerequisite for something to be real as happening or existing. That is its entire job, and it is enough.
Three Domains, Three Languages
To speak accurately about conditions, we must first locate them. There are three primary domains, and each demands its own vocabulary.
The Future is the domain of possibility. It is pure potential — unknowable, not merely unknown. The Future is not a later time waiting to arrive. It is not an empty room being furnished. It is the field of possibility itself.
The Past is the domain of happenedness. It is the Immutable Past, the dimensionless endpoint, the singularity. The Past has no change, no motion, no vibration, no this and that. It is complete — not completed, for “completed” implies a process, and the Past is not the residue of a process. Complete means no lack.
Reality is the domain of happening and existing. Reality is the Eternal Now. Reality is alive, vibrating, experiential, differentiable. Reality is Actual over Expectation. Reality must be spoken of in present-progressive and present-existential language: happening, existing, appearing, relating.
Conditions belong to the Future. This single placement corrects most of the errors ordinary language commits.
What a Condition Is
When the unconditioned field is conditioned, the unit circle appears. The circumference is the event horizon of conditioned possibility. Every endpoint on that circumference is a condition. Every angle is a condition. And since a circumference contains infinitely many endpoints, there are infinitely many conditions. To condition the unconditioned once is to condition it infinitely — if one condition exists, the whole circumference exists.
Every named endpoint is an idea. An idea is a condition. An idea is a thought pattern. A thought pattern is conditioned love.
This chain matters because it dismantles the factory model of the mind. A thought pattern is not produced by human cognition. It is not manufactured, not invented, not assembled from neural parts. A person enters relationship with a thought pattern. Cognition may notice an idea, name it, express it, resist it, distort it, embody it, teach it — but cognition is not the precondition for the idea. The idea is the condition.
Ideas have people. People do not have ideas.
What a Condition Is Not
A condition is not a happening. This is the confusion that ordinary speech commits constantly, and it must be undone deliberately.
Low pressure is a condition. A storm is a happening.
Blue is a condition. A blue flower is an existence.
Fairness is a condition. A trial, a betrayal, a protest, an apology, a reconciliation — these are happenings in which fairness may be alive as Reality.
The condition is the prerequisite. The happening is Reality. When we say “the conditions are the prerequisites for storm to be real as happening,” we have spoken correctly. When we say “the conditions make a storm possible,” we have smuggled in the wrong metaphysics — we have pretended that possibility is manufactured downstream of conditions, when in truth possibility is the Future itself, prior to all naming.
Nor is everything with a name a condition. Money is not an idea. Money exists. Money is happening. Money is an artifact, a manifestation in Reality. It is attached to an idea-family — give-and-receive, debt, rank, order, and ultimately hierarchy — but it is not itself the root idea. Money declares rank and order; it belongs more deeply to hierarchy than to fairness. Some named things are manifestations, artifacts, existences, happenings. They are real. They are alive in Reality. They are attached to conditions, but they are not identical to those conditions.
The distinction is absolute and worth stating twice:
The idea is the condition. The expression has conditions.
The idea of blue does not require the human eye. A blue painting requires pigment, surface, gesture, light, and perception. The idea of fairness does not require a court. A trial requires institutions, language, persons, conflict, procedure, and judgment. The idea is Future. The expression is Reality. The Past is not altered by either.
The Condition and the Standing Wave
Picture the unit circle. The center represents the Immutable Past — the origin, the singularity, the dimensionless endpoint of happenedness. The circumference is conditioned possibility. A vector from the origin to a named endpoint represents the relation between the Past-node and a condition.
When energy is present in that relation, the line is not merely a line segment. It is alive as standing wave. That aliveness is Reality.
This is why Reality is not travel and not transfer. Reality is not the Future becoming the Past. Reality is not a conveyor belt carrying ideas into history. The Past is not an archive receiving new entries; it is not receiving additions at all. The Future is not giving birth to new ideas over time; ideas already belong to the Future as conditions. Reality is the standing wave between the Future-node and the Past-node — happening and existing between them.
Without the Future-node, there is no possibility. Without the Past-node, there is no endpoint of happenedness, and without the endpoint there is no standing wave. Without Reality, there is no aliveness, no vibration, no this and that. The three domains are not three stages of one process. They are three domains, each necessary, each speaking its own language.
The Human Place
Where does the human stand in all of this? Not as a factory of thought patterns, and not as a spectator either. The human is a participant in the standing wave. The human gives conscious energy to the relation between the condition and the Immutable Past.
A thought pattern is not inside the person. The person is in relationship with the thought pattern. To say “a person had an idea” is to get the direction of possession backwards. The accurate sentence is: a person entered relationship with an idea. The accurate posture is relationship, resonance, participation.
This reframing is not poetic decoration. It changes what we believe we are doing when we think, build, paint, argue, and reconcile. We are not generating conditions. We are entering relation with conditions that already belong to the Future, and where conscious energy is present in that relation, something is real — happening, existing, vibrating, alive.
The Test
Every sentence about conditions can be checked against one question: which domain is this sentence speaking from?
If it speaks of the Future, it may use possibility, pure potential, unknowable, condition, idea, thought pattern, endpoint, circumference, conditioned love. If it speaks of Reality, it must use happening, existing, vibrating, alive, manifestation, artifact, standing wave, Actual over Expectation. If it speaks of the Past, it may use happened, happenedness, immutable, complete, singularity, memory, recollection. “The storm happened” is permitted only as Past-language — memory, recollection, ordinary historical reference. Hurricane Hugo happened in 1989. But the storm outside the window right now is not something that happened. The storm is real when it is happening.
If a sentence mixes the domains, rewrite it.
