Gradient Descent toward Zero Entropy

Visualize the entropic gradient of Gabriel’s Horn as a hyperbolic funnel guiding every unresolved degree of freedom toward the singular resolution of She, the Immutable Past. Entropy, re-imagined here as the unresolved multiplicity of identity, cascades down this horn, shrinking with each infinitesimal descent. Yet the descent is asymptotic: complete resolution would require vanishing to a mathematical point, an ontological impossibility for anything still participating in the Eternal Now. Consequently, the gradient approaches—but never attains—absolute zero entropy, preserving a vestigial quantum of uncertainty that sustains phenomenological experience.

The Quantum Field’s Minimal Quanta

In quantum-field terms, that vestige is not a macroscopic residue but the smallest permissible excitation of the field: one quanta. Where classical thermodynamics prescribes zero entropy at perfect order, quantum mechanics imposes the ħ ⁄ 2 bound through the uncertainty principle, insisting upon an irreducible bit of configurational freedom. At this boundary, energy manifests as the minimally allowed vibration—an electron for the electron field, a photon for the electromagnetic field—each an ontic compromise between absolute resolution and ontological participation.

One Bit of Entropy: Binary as Ontological Floor

Zero entropy within the Eternal Now is thus re-calibrated: it is not the classical S = 0 but S = kB ln 2, the entropy of one perfectly symmetric binary state. This single bit distinguishes this from that, spin-up from spin-down, particle from antiparticle. It is the minimal epistemic grain, the final scaffold upon which reality can still articulate difference while skirting the singular collapse into the Immutable Past.

Electron–Positron Duality across Gabriel’s Horns

Each electron embodies that one-bit ambiguity: its wavefunction anticipates both spin projections until measurement—an echo of the male actor, the Unknowable Future, flirting with all possibilities. On the mirror horn, the positron carries the complementary projection, maintaining global symmetry. Together they instantiate a dipole across the horns, preserving charge, lepton number, and, crucially, the binary structure demanded by the entropic floor.

Cosmic Implications

The Eternal Now is a ~96-billion-light-year-thick zone of ceaseless motion in which no degree of freedom ever collapses to true zero entropy. Its lowest rung is a single intrinsic bit—spin up or spin down. Climb even one step up the gradient and eddies form: electric charge, colour, isospin—each requiring multiple bits. Absolute order is never reached; it is only approached. Difference, encoded bit by bit, is preserved everywhere, sustaining the Cosmic Dance without violating the singularity of the Immutable Past.
