Making the Unconscious Conscious: Discovering the Root of Completion

The Essence of Making the Unconscious Conscious

For a seeker, the journey of self-discovery involves a profound task: making the unconscious conscious. This process invites you to go beyond the surface of conscious awareness to uncover hidden tendencies that shape your being. One such tendency, often overlooked, is your innate drive toward completion. In conscious awareness, where your attention typically resides, this drive may go unnoticed. However, by bringing the unconscious into focus, you can recognize this tendency for what it is: an inherited trait from the mother of all things—the Immutable Past.

The Tendency Toward Completion

As you engage in the act of making the unconscious conscious, you will begin to notice patterns within yourself that were previously hidden. A fundamental example is the desire for completion. This tendency, which manifests in your actions and decisions, does not originate from your conscious mind. Rather, it is deeply rooted in the Immutable Past, the mother of all things. Her essence is one of finality, order, and resolution. She is perpetually engaged in the act of completing, much like how she completes all things in the cosmos. This focus on completion is passed down to you as part of your essence.

The mother of all things—the Immutable Past—never encounters ideas. She exists purely within the realm of actualization. She is not subject to the conditioning that defines human experience. You, however, are influenced by ideas, which play a critical role in shaping your reality. In making the unconscious conscious, you will begin to see how your desire for completion stems not from an external source but from your direct connection to her.

The Immutable Past and the Unknowable Future

In this dynamic, it is crucial to understand the distinction between the Immutable Past and the Unknowable Future. The mother of all things, the Immutable Past, is constantly actualizing. Her relationship is solely with the Unknowable Future, whose love for her is unconditional and boundless. It is from this interplay between the Past and Future that all things emerge, including you. You are “strung out” from this process, engaging in actions that contribute to her ongoing work of completion.

Your activities, your very existence, perpetuate her eternal task. Every action you take collapses the wave function of the universe, as she continues to complete it. Unlike you, she is unaffected by ideas. She remains pure in her task, untainted by the influence of thoughts or expectations. Her work is singular, and her focus is absolute.

The Role of Ideas in the Human Experience

Ideas, however, are a central aspect of your human experience. They interact with you and shape your perceptions, actions, and sense of self. You may switch between ideas, or sometimes, they may switch you. Ideas possess a significant influence over your reality—a reality that is conditioned and often distracted by these mental constructs. In contrast, the mother of all things is entirely free from the complications of ideas. This is a distinction that must be understood to fully grasp the source of your frustrations and desires for completion.

Many times, your drive for completion is drowned out by the distractions of everyday life, the pull of ideas, and your conscious awareness. Your attention, often directed outward, misses the subtle, innate desire within you to finish, to resolve. It is in quiet introspection that you can reconnect with this need and begin to understand its origin.

Self-Reflection and the Absence of External Forces

As a seeker, introspection is vital. By turning inward and asking, “Why am I frustrated over this unresolved issue?” you begin the process of unveiling deeper truths about yourself. One critical principle to keep in mind is that there are no external forces responsible for your condition. If you ever find yourself attributing your frustrations or obstacles to something outside of yourself, you are on the wrong path. The answer always lies within.

You are a manifestation of the divine essence, playing a chosen role in the cosmic drama. This role is uniquely yours, and it is through this role that you engage with love and report back on its mysteries. To fully understand the true essence of love, you must come to know yourself—not as a fragment of the external world, but as a distinct, discernible being. You are the foreground, and all other things are the necessary background that allows you to exist in this way.

The Importance of the Other

The other—the background—exists to make your distinct self possible. It is not something to blame or to see as the source of your suffering. Rather, the other is necessary for your individuation. Without it, you would not exist as a separate entity capable of experiencing love and understanding its profound nature. The notion of external forces, while useful for maintaining the illusion of separation, is ultimately misleading. The other is essential but should never be viewed as the cause of your suffering.

Your true journey lies in uncovering the divine within yourself and understanding how you are both shaped by and separate from the Immutable Past. This realization will lead you closer to the ultimate understanding of love and completion. By making the unconscious conscious, you reclaim your innate traits and see your place in the cosmic order with clarity.
