4 FREE Social Media Tools

Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Yelp, etc. have spent BILLIONS of dollars developing software and building huge data centers over the last decade in hopes that if they provide this software and hardware technology to every man, woman and child on the planet for FREE that we will us it. Please congratulate them. They succeeded.

PS. YOU are officially addicted to your smart device. Congratulations.

The question you should be asking yourself is “how can I use this $1,000,000,000 investment in ME to help ME”? You are in luck! I have the secret formula and I’m going to share it with you right now right here for FREE!

DISCOVERY

Every day a realtor asks me to LIKE HIS PAGE. He is pleased when he sees his likes go up and up. However, he’s disappointed in just a few days time when he notices that his PAGE is only getting a few likes on his posts. He eventually gives up and calls it quits.

Meanwhile, John is using Hootsuite (for free) to DISCOVER that 95 people per day are moving to Charleston, SC. He knows them by name. He not only knows when they are moving to Charleston, he know WHY and HOW. He just won the MILLION DOLLAR CLUB AWARD but has NOT said a word on how he did it.

Everyone that owns a smartphone has the power (in their hand) to LISTEN to the pulse of the Internet. If you elect to use that power effectively, you will be able to harness the $1B that Facebook and friends are making in YOU.

Note: I use HOOTSUITE. There are many others besides Hootsuite that provide FREE SOFTWARE specifically designed to help you LISTEN and DISCOVER.

Discovery is a methodology. Discovery is the practice of using YOUR smart device (phone / tablet / desktop / watch / wearable / bud / implant / scroll / etc.) to actively LISTEN to “the conversation”.

Create value for your audience through

  1. the thoughtful and diligent practice of DISCOVERY.

  2. SHARE your wisdom gained from discovery freely with appropriate levels of bias.

ENGAGEMENT

If you were at a party and you only listened without engaging in the conversation you might as well stayed at home because no one will remember that you were even there. Engaging in social media requires finesse. It requires etiquette. Social media has a slang name in the advertising industry. It’s called EARNED MEDIA. Broadcast media has a slang name. It’s called traditional media. Try NOT to confuse the two. You accidently broadcast your amateur status AND you diminish your reputation and professional standing when you fail to engage in an appropriate fashion. When practicing the art of engagement, be Interesting and be Sincere. Your audience can smell bullshit all the way from the other side of the Internet.

FEEDBACK LOOP

WE (All of us) have the luxury of staying engaged in the conversation on social media. We can LISTEN to a point of view (POV), we can debate that POV, we can agree to disagree on that POV, we can even build a consensus on what WE (All of us) should do to remedy a situation. In order for the feedback loop to work, you must stay engaged in the conversation. If you fire and forget, you are no longer in the loop. You cannot build or maintain real relationships without an accurate non-biased feedback loop. Are you in “the loop”?

INSIGHTS

One of the many wonderful lessons I learned at IBM is that if I understand how you are measured, I can predict your next move. Propaganda is monitored and measured all the time. Propagandists measure everything! They poll. They sample. They rate. They rank. Social Media has several simularities to Propaganda. Monitoring, Measuring and Continuous Adjustment are just three of the simularities. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. all give you FREE tools to monitor, measure and adjust. Use these free tools to monitor and measure with great precision the bias, nature, sentiment, the minority report, the interest, gender, age, the frequency, etc of YOUR INTENDED AUDIENCEUse that KNOWLEDGE!

As always, you can thank me later. be You. be Social.
